CESAREF – Network-wide Research Training Event

The upcoming CESAREF training event in Austria is just around the corner and, as always, we are minimizing the environmental impact by maximising the opportunities for everyone to get the most out of the trip. We will be combining training on Smart Industrial Concept, the first face-to-face meeting with our REA Project Officer during our Mid-Term Meeting, with site visits at RHI-Magnesita and a laboratory tour at Montanuniversität Leoben.

The Smart Industrial Concept training at TU Wien will take place from Monday 20th to Tuesday 21st November 2023 and include the following topics :

  • Introduction to industrial energy systems
  • Introduction to thermodynamics of energy efficiency and heat (energy, exergy, 1st law, 2nd law, ….)
  • Energy procurement for industry (European electricity market, where do prices come from, CO2 taxes,…)
  • Decarbonization of industrial energy systems

This will then be followed by the Mid-Term Meeting of the CESAREF consortium with the REA Project Officer on Wednesday 22nd. The plan for the day can be found here.

That same evening we will move to Leoben in preparation for visiting three sites of our beneficiary RHI-Magnesita on Thursday 23rd. Initially we will visit the Mitterdorf recycling plant, followed by the Veitsch processing plant and finally the Technology centre in Leoben.

The week will finish with a tour of the Montanuniversität Leoben laboratory.

The plan for the week can be seen here.
